Current Openings

*Clinic RN

The Clinic RN assist the Provider in delivering high quality patient care.  Accurately document all necessary information within the patient’s chart.  Perform in-house lab tests, EKG’s, and assist with basic procedures.  Administer and document medications and vaccinations appropriately.  Follow-up with all outstanding patient orders, referrals, and prior authorizations.  Applicants must have CO RN licensure.

 

*Medical Assistant

The MA assists the Provider in delivering high quality patient care.  Accurately document all necessary information within the patient’s chart.  Perform in-house lab tests, EKG’s, and assist with basic procedures.  Administer and document medications and vaccinations appropriately.  Follow-up with all outstanding patient orders and referrals. This is a fulltime position.

 

* Surgical Pre-admission Testing (PAT) RN 

The PAT RN is responsible for the planning, coordination, screening, and pre-procedure orientation for all of the patients undergoing a planned surgical/procedural event. The PAT RN serves as the facilitator of communications within the multi-disciplinary team. The PAT RN will evaluate each patient to identify perioperative and intraoperative risks or problems, so that they may be avoided. In addition, the PAT RN will work directly with anesthesia providers and surgeons to determine necessary safety screening criteria and pre-op teaching standards. This role is required to perform the full pre-surgical history either over the phone or via a scheduled onsite PAT nurse appointment in conjunction with an anesthesia provider (as needed). The PAT RN helps to arrange medical consultations for patients, if necessary. All the pre-operative teaching and coordination of teaching with other departments in the hospital is managed by this position. Surgical prep instructions, including but not limited to, NPO requirements, medications to be taken on the morning of surgery, and anesthesia options will be covered routinely. The PAT RN will ensure that all ordered diagnostic tests and labs are completed by the patient in a timely manner. The PAT RN is a member of the Surgical Services team and will be expected to cross-train to other roles as assigned such as the PreOp/PACU RN, Circulator RN or Infusion RN roles.  Three to five years of previous experience in a relevant surgical RN role is a must. BLS, PALS, and ACLS required.

 

*Patient Account Representative

The Patient Account Rep will primarily be responsible for Medicare & Medicaid billing. The Rep follows up on assigned accounts after claim submission.  Responsible for accurately and timely collection of claims billed to third-party payers as both primary, secondary, tertiary, etc.  Required to maintain  individual AR at the departmental goal as well as other departmental goals:  Cash Collections, AR Days.

 

*CFO

The Chief Financial Officer who reports to the CEO and oversees all financial operations of this Critical Access Hospital and its Rural Health Clinic. The CFO prepares and manages the annual budget, prepares cost-benefit analyses, develops financial forecasts, negotiates managed care and vendor contracts, reviews cost reports and advises the organization on related implications, reports the financial status to the Board, is responsible for the annual audit, and monitors the revenue cycle. The CFO must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and seven years of progressively responsible financial management experience in healthcare. Critical Access Hospital experience is desired.

 

*Director of Revenue Cycle

The Director leads and manages all aspects of operations of the Revenue Cycle including managers/supervisors for the following departments/areas:   pre-service/authorization, registration, coding and billing.  Directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization’s revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding registration, admissions, pricing, coding, billing, third-party payer relationships, compliance, collections and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. A candidate must be a team player, a respectful leader and committed to patient/customer service. A Bachelor’s Degree OR sufficient mix of experience and job-specific training is required. Clinical background preferred but not required.  Five years of progressive Revenue Cycle experience in the healthcare industry.  Critical Access Hospital and/or Rural Healthcare Clinic experience a plus but not required.

 

*PACU RN/OR Circulator

Perioperative Operating Room RN to be responsible for the safe, effective and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room, gastroenterology suite and other areas of surgical services for all patient populations. BLS/ACLS required, 5+ years of operating room circulator and scrub experience preferred, knowledge of Cerner Community Works electronic health record a plus.

 

*Registered Nurse First Assistant

The RNFA functions as the assistant to the operating surgeon during the operative procedure and provides comprehensive nursing management and care during the perioperative phase. Must have current Colorado RN license with a minimum of three years of perioperative nursing experience in both scrub and circulating role, CNOR certified, must have completed a Competency and Credentialing Institute(CCI) RNFA program that meets the criteria set out in the AORN Standards for the RN First Assistant Education programs, and must be able to apply principles of asepsis  and infection control. Must have knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to operative procedures. BLS required. ACLS preferred.

 

*Sterile Processing Tech

The Tech assists to assure operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.  Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies.  Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments.  Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Would prefer CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification.

 

*Certified Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist will work directly with the surgeon and the circulating registered   nurse.   Assists surgeon during gastroenterology endoscopy, operative and invasive procedures with a working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique. Assures operating suite is adequately prepared and maintained for procedures.  Monitors inventory of surgical instruments and supplies.  Cleans, reprocesses and sterilizes surgical instruments.  Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

 

*Psychiatrist

Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) has an opportunity available for a full-time or part-time Psychiatrist to join our expanding Behavioral Health Department and lead our two licensed behavioral health practitioners. Duties will include mainly outpatient clinical patients, but may include consultation on inpatient cases at times. Candidates must be able to provide both acute and chronic psychiatric medication management to patients of all ages and comfortable referring patients out for counseling. Integrative care experience preferred.

Position Highlights:

  • Successful candidate would lead our Behavioral Health Department – currently consisting of two licensed counselors

  • Malpractice insurance is covered by the facility

PSMC is a progressive, patient centered facility, which opened its doors in 2008.  The hospital is licensed for 11 beds and has Board Certified physicians caring for patients via our level IV trauma center. Other services include surgery, orthopedics, women’s health, imaging including CT and MRI, lab services, emergency medical services and infusion. Our Rural Health Clinic currently has  a newly constructed addition with 32 exam rooms, housing both Family Medicine and Internal Medicine along with other specialists including, Behavioral Health, Gastroenterology, Cardiovascular, General and Orthopedic Surgeons for a truly integrated approach. In early 2018, PSMC is launching a limited Oncology program.

*Certified Medical Technologist

The Medical Tech will perform technical analytical procedures requiring knowledge and techniques in areas such as hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, coagulation and phlebotomy as ordered by the physician. Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory instrumentation. Performs, records and participates in evaluation of Quality Control for tests conducted.

 

*Nutritional Service Worker

The Nutritional Service Worker will prepare and cook food for hospital patients, staff, and visitors. Must have a flexible schedule and willing to work nights and weekends.

*Infusion Nurse – Part Time

The Infusion RN is responsible for outpatient infusions services.  Must be proficient in IV insertions for all age groups, PICC line and Port-a-Cath management, Phlebotomy, blood transfusions, performing nursing H&P/assessment, communication with ordering physicians and staff, etc.  Responsible for patient teaching such as injections and all aspects of IV infusion therapy for all ages and disease processes.  PICC Line & ONCC certification preferred. BLS, PALS, and ACLS required

 

*PRN Paramedics

We are seeking paramedics with varying levels of experience that value providing safe and compassionate care, integrity and transparency in a just culture. We provide exceptional BLS and ALS services to our community of over 1800sq/mi. Shifts vary and wages are competitive. Every employee is hired to make significant contributions to PSMC EMS. *Housekeeper Part time

The Housekeeper will maintain and implement a clean, safe and positive patient care work environment.  Must be willing to work nights and weekends.  This is a fulltime position.  

 

*Coder PRN

The Coder will review clinical documentation and diagnostic results as necessary to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance.  Accurately code patient conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.  Resolve error reports associated with the billing process and when necessary, assist in the design and implementation of workflow changes to reduce coding and billing errors.

 

*Pre-Certification Specialist – Part time

The specialist is responsible for reviewing scheduled services to ensure reimbursement for outpatient services and that pre-certification has been obtained timely, accurate, and complete documentation of clinical information which supports healthcare services provided to patients.

 

*MRI Technologist PRN

The MRI Technologist will support the mission and values of PSMC. Under the direct supervision of the Radiology Manager, the MR Technologist performs diagnostic imaging to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries.  The MRI tech must always ensure the safety of him or herself, along with patients, patients’ family members and other medical personnel.  The MRI Technologist works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. MRI technologists interpret a physician’s instructions, explain MRI procedures to patients, and select software and imaging parameters.

 

*X-ray/CT Technologist PRN

The CT/X-ray Technologist will support the mission and values of PSMC.  Under the direct supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the CT/X-ray Technologist performs radiographic imaging to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. Along with imaging, the technologist will assist the Radiologist with biopsies and other procedures as needed.   The CT/X-ray Technologist works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

 

*PRN RN OR Circulator

Perioperative Operating Room RN to be responsible for the safe, effective and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room, gastroenterology suite and other areas of surgical services for all patient populations. BLS/ACLS required, CNOR/CRNFA preferred, 5+ years of operating room circulator and scrub experience preferred, knowledge of Cerner Community Works electronic health record a plus.

 

* PRN Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist will provide rehabilitative services to patients.  Occupational Therapy license is required.

 

* PRN Ultrasound Tech

The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, e.g., echocardiograms, abdominal and pelvic sonograms, for patients as ordered.  Selects appropriate transducer, depending upon depth of field, organ to be identified, etc. Conducts scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment.  Assists physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies, etc.
