Free Classes for Community Members
Pagosa Springs Medical Center is now offering educational classes over a variety of topics. The classes are free to the community members. Come find out more information and get the tools you can use to help shape your lifestyle or the lifestyle of a loved one.
Attendees will learn how to manage diabetes through healthy habits and lifestyle changes. The diabetes class will be held on the 2nd Friday of the month, from 10am-11am in the Chamber’s room.
Often called the silent killer, hypertension or high blood pressure can sometimes go undetected because symptoms don’t readily show themselves. Attendees will learn about the risks associated with hypertension and ways to control the disease.
The United States is currently facing an obesity epidemic. This disease is mostly preventable through lifestyle choices and eating habits. Find out how the choices you make today have a lasting impact on your health.
The Hypertension and Obesity classes will be held on the 3rd Friday of the month, from 10am-11am in the Chamber’s room. The classes will alternate each month, call 970-731-3700 for details and to sign-up.
Behavioral Health and Support
Grief and Loss
We all experience grief and loss at points in our life. Attendees will learn about the stages of grief, that loss is a natural part of the process of living, and when to seek professional help.
This class will provide information on ways to support and help those that are abusing alcohol and drugs. It is for the individual or a family member who is struggling with the disease.
The Behavioral Health and Support classes occur on the 1st Thursday of the month from 10am-11am in the Chamber’s room. The classes will alternate each month, call 970-731-3700 for details and to sign-up.
Breast Cancer Support
Finding out a diagnosis of breast cancer can elicit many emotions. Our breast cancer support class will help attendees understand and navigate the emotional process while providing education of the nuances of the disease.

Healthcare in Your Hands
Colorado Advanced Medical Directive
Attendees will be able to establish their Medical Durable Power of Attorney and Colorado Declaration. These documents will outline your wishes for medical care, should you no longer be able to make those decisions yourself.
Financial Assistance Program
The cost of healthcare impacts each person differently. This class is designed to help individuals obtain financial assistance with healthcare bills and prescription drugs.
The Healthcare in Your Hands classes will be held on the 4th Friday of the month from 10am-11am in the Chamber’s room. The classes will alternate each month, call 970-731-3700 for details and to sign-up.
