PROVIDER POSITIONS

* Full Time Emergency Medicine Physician

Pagosa Springs Medical Center has an opening for a Full-Time Emergency Medicine Physician. Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or have extensive Emergency Medicine experience. Full-time is generally 10 to 12 shifts per month with an equitable mix of days, nights, weekends and holidays. PSMC will provide professional liability insurance coverage, a relocation stipend of $10,000 payable after relocation and two weeks after starting work, and a CME allowance of $6,000 annually (gross and subject to taxes) for full-time physicians. Compensation is $175 per hour for day shifts and $180 per hour for night shifts. * Full Time Primary Care Physician

Pagosa Springs Medical Center has an opening for a Full-Time Primary Care Physician.  Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. The position is for all outpatient, non-obstetrical, full-time primary care including women’s care. Full-time physicians work four 10-hour shifts per week (not weekends). PSMC will provide professional liability insurance coverage, a relocation stipend of $10,000 payable after relocation and two weeks after starting work, and a CME allowance of $6,000 annually (gross and subject to taxes) for full-time physicians. Full-time physicians receive 260 hours of paid time off per year. Compensation range for full-time Family Medicine physician:  $190,000 to $235,000. Compensation range for full-time Internal Medicine physician:  $200,000 to $250,000. *Call Receptionist

The Call Receptionist operates clinic telephone switchboards and consoles to connect, hold and transfer telephone calls and provide information to assist callers or refer them to appropriate contacts, either in the organization or elsewhere. The Call Receptionist does daily problem solving for incoming callers by making informed decisions by communicating with the proper depart, as well as checking and confirming patients appoints. The Call Receptionist performs routine, and some non-routine, continuous work involved primarily with the operation of a telephone switchboard and the operation and maintenance of a computerized database of telephone information. Included in the non-routine work, the Call Receptionist retrieves and organizes incoming electronic faxes for appointments, referrals, authorizations and order requests for the following departments: Radiology, Clinic and Providers, Specialty Clinic, Surgery Scheduling, Oncology, Lab and Medical Records. The Call Receptionist reviews the faxes for complete and accurate information that includes: Patient Demographics, Insurance, Prior Authorization, Provider information and Signature, CPT and Diagnosis. Returns the incomplete fax back to the Outside Providers requesting updated information and following up until results are obtained.

*Certified Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist will work directly with the surgeon and the circulating registered nurse.

  • Assists surgeon during gastroenterology endoscopy, operative and invasive procedures with a working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique.
  • Assures operating suite is adequately prepared and maintained for procedures.
  • Monitors inventory of surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Cleans, reprocesses and sterilizes surgical instruments.

*Coding Analyst & Pre-Certification Specialist

The Coding Analyst possesses a solid understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS Coding and CMS rules and regulations. The Coding Analyst audits and reviews medical documentation for appropriate coding and documentation for the purpose of reimbursement, training, education, and compliance. Gives feedback to the HIM and Patient Registration Manager, and gives suggestions for improvement initiatives. Responsible for obtaining authorizations for ordered services, timely and accurately, to ensure reimbursement for outpatient and inpatient services. The specialist is responsible for providing complete documentation of clinical information to payers in support of healthcare services to be authorized.

  • Education Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent required. Advanced level courses and/or AHIMA or AAPC certification preferred or three (3) years or more of equivalent experience. Courses in medical/clinical terminology and computer.
  • Job Requirements: 3+ years’ experience in coding with primary focus in facility outpatient and inpatient and pro fee coding. Experience with a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic preferred.

*Emergency Department Registration Lead

The ED Registration Lead oversees the daily operations of specific work units within the ED Registration Department. The lead partners closely with the Patient Registration Supervisor and the Patient Access/HIM Manager to provide leadership coverage and presence to the ED Registration area. This individual is responsible for ensuring the effective operations through organizing, scheduling, and monitoring department workload. In addition, this individual will monitor work quality and productivity metrics and coordinate training as needed. The Lead will serve as the first line of escalation for staff questions on workflows and processes. The incumbent is responsible for training new staff, assisting in the planning and development of training materials, assisting in the development and implementation of quality assurance processes and serving as a go-to resource to staff. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the effective operations of the day to day activities of ED Registration. This person will identify areas for improvements and develop plans for improving the quality of these processes. This position is customer service driven and the incumbent must have the ability to effectively promote positive customer service while working in a highly stressful and complex environment. The Lead is able to quickly assess an urgent situation and provide issue resolution and de-escalation.

*Facility Maintenance Worker

The Facility Maintenance Worker is responsible for completing a wide variety of tasks from basic day-to-day building maintenance such as changing light bulbs, painting, flooring and un-clogging sinks to more technical diagnosis and repair of different types of equipment. Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities on building facilities and equipment. Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions for assigned tasks such as, but not limited to, assembling/disassembling furniture or installing lighting fixtures. *Mammography Technologist

The Mammography Technologist will support the mission and values of PSMC.

  • Under the direct supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the Radiologist, the Mammography Technologist performs Screening and Diagnostic Mammograms to assist in the diagnosis of disease.
  • The Mammography Technologist also performs diagnostic procedures and assists the Radiologist with these procedures.

*Nutritional Services Worker

Under the general supervision of the Dietary Supervisor, the Nutritional Services Worker supports preparation of food for meals & functions in a timely manner for the hospital patients, staff and visitors. Follow menus according to those established by the facility, helps prepare food according to established recipes, maintain cooking equipment and keeping preparation area clean & organized. *Oncology Infusion RN

The Infusion RN is responsible for outpatient infusions services including chemotherapy. Must be proficient in IV insertions for adults, PICC line and Port-a-Cath management, phlebotomy, blood transfusions, performing nursing H&P/assessment, communication with ordering physicians and staff, etc. Responsible for patient education such as injections and all aspects of IV infusion therapy for all adult disease processes.

  • Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience Requirements: At least 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing with an emphasis on IV insertions and phlebotomy skills. Previous Infusion experience preferred. Previous Oncology Infusion experience preferred but not required.
  • Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications: Basic computer knowledge required. Strong customer service skills required. BLS required, ACLS-preferred, PALS- preferred. ONS Chemo/Bio Certification Required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification preferred.

*Pharmacy Purchasing Agent

The Pharmacy Purchasing Agent facilitates communication with wholesaler, buying groups and manufacturer representatives. Assists in maintaining pharmacy chargemaster and 340b administration. Ensures adequate levels of medications within budget constraints. Reviews, evaluates and makes decision for pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment. Manages automated drug cabinets (ADC) including users, medications, par levels, outdates and any required maintenance. Performs drug ordering, receiving, and distribution, managing outdates, managing inventory, charging, and maintaining and filing paperwork appropriately. Unpacks, stores, and maintains inventory of medications and supplies, repackages bulk medications into unit of use containers, and stocks dispensing bins. Delivers medications to other departments and maintains records showing disposition. Assists in compounding of parenteral medications, including hazardous agents utilizing aseptic technique. Performs other related duties as directed and in accordance with appropriate state and federal laws.

  • Education/Experience Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Two years of recent Hospital or Retail Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications: Pharmacy Technician Certification by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Basic computer knowledge. BLS.

The RNFA functions as the assistant to the operating surgeon during the operative procedure and provides comprehensive nursing management and care during the perioperative phase. *PRN Echocardiography Technologist

The Echocardiography Technologist will support the mission and values of PSMC. The Echocardiography Technologist works independently performing professional level assessments and a variety of noninvasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology as appropriate and records the results and clinical preliminary impressions as indicated. The results of these test are used to direct the course of patient care. The Echocardiography Technologist encounters difficult problems related to examinations and must resolve them with limited supervision. There is daily contact with professionals and families.

This position is a full performance Echocardiography Technologist with advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and disease. All examinations are performed within standard protocols and in a variety of settings (outpatient, emergency department and inpatient unit) using portable equipment.

The sonographer performs transthoracic echocardiograms, treadmill exercise stress echocardiograms, Holter/ Event monitor setup and reporting, and assists with ECG stress testing.

  • Education/Experience Requirements: Must have completed a cardiac sonography education program and hold a certificate/diploma or associated degree in echocardiography or diagnostic imaging.
  • Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications: Must be registered RDCS or RCS. Maintain continual medical education as required by registry. BLS/ACLS.
