Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Volunteer

Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is dedicated to providing quality, compassionate healthcare and wellness to the Pagosa Springs community and surrounding region. Volunteers add a personal dimension to patient and family hospital visits, while assisting PSMC staff with essential tasks.

Volunteer roles include:

    • Greet and direct visitors and patients upon arrival.
    • Provide visitors and patients with general information.
    • Escort patients and visitors to the appropriate location within the medical center.
    • Perform clerical duties.

PSMC's Dog Therapy Program

Patients and employees alike delight in PSMC’s Dog Therapy team visits.  Therapy dog teams consisting of a dog and its human are certified by either Therapy Dog International or the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and have completed the PSMC volunteer onboarding process. Benefits from a dog visit may include lower blood pressure, less stress, distraction from pain and an increased sense of well-being. Although most patients enjoy a visit, those who wish to pass may opt out.
